With the world still gripped in the real-life horror of the COVID-19 pandemic, I thought it would be fitting to watch George A. Romero's 1973 infection-themed horror film The Crazies. The small town of Evans City, Pennsylvania is plunged into martial law when a plane carrying bioweapon in the form of a virus code-named "Trixie," crashes near the town and infects the water supply. The only possible effects of being infected by the virus are that you either die or get turned into a homicidal madman. As Col. Peckem (Lloyd Hollar) tries to control the situation in town, volunteer firefighters David (Will McMillan) and Clank (Harold Wayne Jones) try to escape the guaranteed town, along with David's pregnant girlfriend Judy (Lane Carroll), Artie (Richard Liberty) and his daughter Kathy (Lynn Lowry).
